The match that could have been (Day 5)

Our flash of greatness only lasted  one match. The one from yesterday against the Dominican Republic. The match today was a different story. Peru played well enough to win against a team  (ours) far less organized than the night before. We lost 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 22-25, 19-25). If only we would have pushed a little harder at the end of the first set. We bounced back in the second but we weren't solid enough in the next 2. We actually committed less errors than Peru (35, for their 42). We also out blocked them 12-8. Goes to show everything is not written in the stats. Liz Cordonier was back on top of our scorer board with 15 points .

We now have a meeting with the hometown team tomorrow. Mexico battled really hard against Puerto Rico but ended up losing in 5. The 7th place is now in our hands, as well as a revenge from last month's Norceca Championships.

I just got back from the airport where the men's team arrived a few hours ago. They will stay in the Village only tonight as they are leaving tomorrow afternoon to play 2 exhibition matches against Argentina and Mexico in a town called Colima. I'll report on this in a few days.

I'll leave you tonight with a glimpse of the volleyball venue here in Guadalajara. You can can see it by clicking on the following link:
